Greetings, I'm Grant
My Roots. My Family.
I grew up in suburban Minneapolis and attended college in NW Iowa—just a city kid educated in Iowa's farmland! This prepared me to be a science educator, starting at Norway High School in 1977 and then at Linn-Mar High School from '79 through '85.

My wife was an RN with cardiac telemetry and operating room experience at St. Luke's Hospital, followed by a long career in oncology case management. Our two sons are K-12 graduates of Linn-Mar. Our youngest son is employed by Hy-Vee in Cedar Rapids, and our oldest has returned home to Marion after an accomplished career in higher education.

Notably, my wife and I have lived in Marion since 1979. And we're dog lovers! Our current critter is a rescue German Shepherd named Havoc. He bosses us around.
A THRIVING CAREER.
I taught science at Linn-Mar High School from 1979 to 1985. My primary areas of instruction were chemistry and the earth sciences. I was also a track and football coach.
I left education in mid-1985 to assume increasingly responsible roles in nuclear power emergency preparedness for Iowa Electric's (now Alliant Energy) Duane Arnold Energy Center in Palo. Subsequently, I worked in field operations with the largest industrial customers such as ADM, Cargill, and several other "Top 100" customers in our east-central Iowa region.

From late 1998 until mid-2016, I ventured into complex project management, data security, business continuity, and program quality management for large technical projects over $5M for Pearson Education in Iowa City.
