Greetings, I'm Grant
My Roots. My Family.
I grew up in suburban Minneapolis and attended college in NW Iowa which prepared me to be a science educator and track/football coach at Linn-Mar high school from 1979 through 1985. My wife is an RN, with cardiac telemetry and OR experience at St. Luke's Hospital; she's now a hematology case manager. Our two sons are graduates of Linn-Mar. Our youngest is an assistant department manager with Hy-Vee, and our oldest is Director of Bands at Valdosta State University in Valdosta GA. Notably, my wife and I have spent our entire married life as Marion residents. And were dog lovers!
A THRIVING CAREER
I was a science educator at Linn-Mar high school from 1979 to 1985. Chemistry and earth sciences were my primary areas of instruction.
I left education in mid-1985 to assume increasingly responsible roles in nuclear power plant emergency preparedness for Iowa Electric (now Alliant Energy), and subsequently in field operations working with large industrial customers.
In 1998 until mid-2016, I ventured into complex project management, data security, business continuity, and program quality management for large projects in excess of $5M for Pearson Education in Iowa City.
